As a middle-aged woman who is concerned about such health issues as cholesterol and menopause, just to name two, I am on the lookout for ways to integrate my spiritual beliefs with my health practices. Although I don't need scientific studies myself, I am glad to see that research is being conducted on prayer as it relates to one’s health. From meditation to dietary restrictions, we have options. And this weekend we can learn more about healthy living, both physical and spiritual, at the "Health and Healing Fair" at St. George's Episcopal Church. Be well.

HEALTH AND HEALING FAIR

St. George’s Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Road

Saturday, July 26, 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Area adults are invited to a “health and healing fair” this weekend at St. George’s Episcopal Church (corner of Harding Rd. and Belle Meade Blvd.). The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. John Gill Thompson Jr. will present the keynote address entitled, “Wholeness and Balance in Your Personal Health.” St. Thomas Health Services will provide health screenings and information on a variety of health concerns will be available, as well as door prizes and healthy snacks. Scott Reall, director of the YMCA’s Restore Ministries, will speak on “Building a Healing Community in Nashville.” In addition, the church’s Healing Ministry Team will offer prayers for healing.

I love that this blog -- in this entry and the next one, "Another Reason to Get Off the Couch" -- makes living spiritually practical. Anyone can say "be healthy" or "volunteer," but thanks so much for giving us that extra push by saying exactly how! I'm very grateful!
