Happy National Kid’s Day! Don’t feel too badly if you didn’t get a cake because it happens to be National Fresh Breath Day (just once a year?) and National Sister’s Day, too – I will email mine after I post this very important blog.

Apparently, there are numerous, slightly known, and therefore, rarely celebrated holidays of all kinds. I’m here to inform you that August is Family Fun Month, Family Eye Care Month, Children’s Good Manners Month (only a month?) and most importantly, National Napping Month. After I email my sister, I will lie down.

August has at least two food holidays: Sandwich Month and Berry Month. I apologize for not alerting you in time for American Family Day, which was yesterday, however, I respectfully submit the name be changed to simply Family Day.

Tomorrow plan something special for National Night Out (which isn’t technically a day, but night observance) and I’ll be making a note of August 9, Middle Children’s Day, since both my only daughter and husband are both middle children.

Other special days to look forward to: August 10 is both Smores Day and Gal’s Night Out; coincidently, it is also the birthday of aspirin (1897). Stay tuned for more family-related holidays coming up in future blogs.

Hey, if you celebrate ANY little-known holiday with your family, I’d love to hear about it!
