It was a few years ago at Rocketown’s skateboarding camp where Logan earned his nickname, “Cheeseburger” -- or “Cheese,” for short. That summer, he discovered microwavable cheeseburgers and had one almost everyday for lunch at camp. The name stuck, and as a result, many regulars at Rocketown and Sixth Avenue Skatepark don’t even know his real name. I’ve often had to identify myself as “Cheeseburger’s mom;” then the light of recognition turns on.
I wonder if he’ll acquire a new nickname at sleep-away camp. Although “Cheeseburger” is kind of cute, would it be too much to hope that perhaps this summer he’s known as “Salad” or “Apple?” High cholesterol runs in our family.

that a person's taste buds change every seven years? I didn't, but my brainy daughter announced that one night when my son — quite uncharacteristically — complimented the green peas on his dinner plate, when not too long ago, he would try to sneakily scrape them off into his napkin to toss in the trash. I haven't researched that "fact" to find out whether it is indeed true, but I'm wondering now if I should give boiled okra or liver and onions another chance.
Nah, don't think so. Eeeewwwwww!
