Chances are that if you come to me with a logistics, beauty, or technology need I am going to reply, “you should Google it.” When this happens don't be alarmed. It’s not that I don’t care about your problem or that I’m trying to be sarcastic, it’s just that “Google it” tends to be my solution to any number of crises from “why won’t my car start?” to “where can I take a writing class?” to “how do you change a litter box?”

After a few encounters with me (or my hubby) you’d think my friends would expect this sort of answer – not so much. The way some of you look at me, you’d think I’d just suggested to buy a voodoo doll and dance a circle around it. But I really mean it.

Here's why: In the vast majority of situations you are not the first person to have this problem/issue/exciting news/concern, so Google it and see what others have done to solve it/celebrate it/tackle it. I’m not saying that if it’s on the internet it’s the gospel. I’m saying it’s a great place to start.

Google isn’t just a research project resource or something you do to the name (and hometown) of a blind date. Next time you are in search of information or in need of a quick explanation about the way something works, Google it first. Google can make you the smartest woman in the room, and an empowered one at that.
